Personal Background |
Emily Blincoe, who was born and raised in Austin, Texas, currently spends her time traveling with her two dogs between Austin and Nashville. Blincoe started working (illegally) in a restaurant bussing tables at a Chinese restaurant in Bastrop, Texas, before she became a professional photographer. By the time she was 15 or 16 years old, she was working the summer before school started as a cashier and server. According to Blincoe, she never truly learned well in a classroom environment and would do anything to leave. She worked as a general manager at a Kerbey Lane Cafe for her first "professional" job.

Style |
This artist prefers to highlight the good things in life. Several of her portrait photographs include her people grinning widely and stunningly vibrant backgrounds. She emphasizes the beauty of our planet by utilizing a lot of natural light and natural objects. Eleanor, Blincoe's dog, is also the subject of a sizable collection. She clearly loves what she does for a living, and her images reflect this. It is clear from looking at them that she takes great pleasure in her work.

Philosophy |
Blincoe has a wealth of expertise in all forms of photography. She has various collections, including ones of her dog, cheerful photos, and personal improvement. Although it may not always seem like it, we are growing every day, just like a flower, I believe Blincoe is attempting to convey in her collection on personal growth through the use of flowers. Also, I believe that by putting pictures of her dog Eleanor, who is very dear to her, she is sharing her life with her viewers and making us feel closer to one another. Her tendency to capture happy moments in her photographs is clear from glancing at them, which, in my opinion, makes her shots all the more potent.

Influences |
I've been inspired by Emily Blincoe to take images that are happier, livelier, and more colorful. Each of her photographs really does have vivid brightness, and I truly want to convey it in my own photography. I want my viewers to smile while they view my photos and experience the same emotions I did while viewing Blincoe's. She used a very personal experience for her to record some of Eleanor's most beautiful moments, and that inspired me as well. Faces, unfamiliar surroundings, shapes, colors, light, and contemplative tiny moments all inspire this artist. In her gallery of images, we can discover all of her sources of inspiration.

Compare and Contrast
This piece is a picture of buttons scattered. I chose to recreate this image because there were many different parts of the image that I was drawn to- thus making the image really unique. I used similar colors of buttons and lined them up a little spread out. I also included the bag but used a different color since my buttons' colors were also different. I would say this image came out really well and looks similar to Emily's original image.
This image is a picture of flowers throughout its stage of growth. I just happened to have flowers so I took apart half and resembled them throughout the journey of their life. Since Emily Blincoe loves nature and bright colors- I also had to resemble the orange background and edit my picture so the flowers would look pink. Overall I feel like I could've matched the color a bit more but I think it looks good.
This image is a picture of a dog in a green hoodie. I did not have the materials to match the exact kind of hoodie- so I improvised. Even though the dog is not the same I think the image looks pretty good by itself. I also edited my images to make the white background brighter to draw more attention to the main part of the image- the dog.
Personal Artist Statement:
My images use a variety of colors. This is to resemble the colorfulness and brightness of Emily Blincoe’s images. I like to resemble color and happiness in my work. Even though conveying feelings might not be interpreted the same way through images- if the image is bright I think that should brighten up someone's day. My images also display silliness as you can see with the dog in a hoodie. I also believe that editing is one of the most important steps with being a photographer because it comes in handy with the setting or mode you are trying to get out for people. Finally, the button and flowers were an example of the contrast from similar objects in different colors. I chose Emily Blincoe because she had a lot of energy in her works and recreating her pictures were easy.
